Took him long enough. I guess the money finally ran out. As well as his allies' patience.

US President Joe Biden says it has been 'greatest honour' to serve as he ends campaign

It seems the Dems have FINALLY figured things out.

Trump has a new target.....one he won't know until after the election while 'candidates' grab headlines as they vie against each other.

Let's face it. Donnie hasn't said anything new in five years, just the same old whine and cheesy bitching.

It will be October before MAGA has a true target, and by then Trump's soft edges will be eroding.

It is exactly what I would have proscribed.

In the meantime... You might have just missed the news: Bidenomics worked and no one cares.

You might have just missed Earth-shattering economic news

Economists Say Inflation Would Be Worse Under Trump Than Biden

Sometimes there comes a painful day when you have to take the car keys away from grandpa even though he doesn't want to give them up. But how do you take away the keys to the country away in this situation? -

Biden has doubled-down on officially stating he will NOT be exiting the race. He is also bucking "the elites," which I find interesting. This contradicts rumors that he will be out this week. What does everyone think his chances are?

Biden firmly denounces calls to step aside from fellow Democrats: 'The voters have spoken'
The president said the voters have chosen him and dared Democratic “elites” who want him out to challenge him at the party’s convention next month.

Except that the voters really didn't speak. They weren't given an option. The idea that the Democrats held a primary is laughable, despite how many delegates Joe Biden received.

But fine, shrug... The Dem big money donors are the ones who call the shots. Not Biden or "the voters". We'll have to wait and see what they do. That said, the big money grifters are between a rock and a hard place. Him or her. Not much of a choice, really. They done shot themselves in the foot.

Biden’s Physician Met with Parkinson’s Disease Expert at White House, Visitor Logs Show

I don't think it matters at this point what Biden does, or what his medical records show, or what cognitive test he undergoes. I think most people have seen an elderly parent or grandparent decline as they age. Trying to fight against the idea that Biden is too old is like trying to stop a tidal wave or an earthquake. The instinct people have not to select a frail and infirm leader is too great an obstacle for Biden to overcome. Biden's campaign was over the moment his eyes glazed over at the debate.

Most American political disagreements may fall into the boring old left vs. right, but Israel vs Palestine is one of the exceptions. We're still divided - it's just more diagonal than vertical.

If you're an optimist, you could say we're united differently; On one side you have 'I miss Reagan' Republicans and 'I believe in Science!' Democrats cheering on the Jews, on the other side Bernie bros and Gadsden flag wavers are sympathizing with Palestinians.

Either way this is a tough line for Joe to walk - sending piles of weapons to Israel but condemning the use of them just enough to keep the Team Palestine block content.

Can he do it? If we're at 100,000 dead Palestinians come November, can he wag the finger at Netanyahu enough or give away enough free shit here at home(loan forgiveness!) to hold on to the votes of people that think of him as 'Genocide Joe'? Michigan and Pennsylvania both have more Muslims than the number of votes he won by there last time - is a resolution to this war sooner than later necessary for him to keep them?

Once again we prove that right wingers have never cared about the law or the constitution. Spite, hate, and gaining the power to inflict harm on their enemies are the only things Republicans care about.

Republicans Pull Trigger on Plan to Remove Joe Biden From Ballots

"Absurdity"? Trump is a 91 indictment criminal defendant, meaning there's actually a lot of evidence of his crimes! How old are these "lawmakers'", 15? These clowns with their "Oh yeah?" will get nowhere with this and should really try screaming into a pillow next time so they don't look like such petulant whiners.

I wish them the best of luck.

I wonder, since Biden is president but they are trying to remove him as a candidate, will he have to pay for his own lawyers or can WH counsel do the job? I would think the former.

(Tbh, I think these attempts will summarily be tossed out before anyone needs lawyers)

Something tells me conservatives will be outraged about...something.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/06/20/hunter-biden-plea-deal/
President Biden’s son Hunter has reached a tentative agreement with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to two minor tax crimes and admit to the facts of a gun charge under terms that would likely keep him out of jail, according to court papers filed Tuesday.

Huh. So Hunter Biden is going down because of the investigation that Joe Biden didn't interfere with, not his dick pics. So much for "Deep State" protection. How about that.

(I'll take this opportunity to remind you all that the Trump FBI had his laptop since 2019 and never indicted him, or even indicated it so much as recommended charges)

It looks like the tax charges will be misdemeanors and the gun charge will be a felony.

Dude seems to be a bit of a loser and grifter and hopefully he uses this to learn better and turn his life around.

Biden, Harris officially announce their 2024 re-election campaign

We're a step closer to having the rematch most Americans don't want. It seems both major parties are out of touch with most Americans or either don't give an owl's hoot what most Americans think, want or wish for.

The latest poll on running again or having the rematch. Questions 19 and 21

26% of Americans want Biden to run again, 53% don't. Democrats 47% do, 28% don't

32% of Americans want Trump to run again, 54% don't, Republicans 56% do, 29% don't

Not sure which part of don't want either of these two to run again don't both major parties understand?

Joe never fails to entertain, does he. As he's always been an endless source of unintended hilarity, I thought it best to make a thread to keep track of the plentiful goofs and gaffes that are sure to come from old Joe. He's a whole different kind of LOL from his predecessor Mr Big Orange Head and yet he can't help making you chuckle.

Case in point:

But if we are to be serious for a moment, while no doubt Joe is showing his age he's still got enough smarts to have put competent, qualified people in key positions that are capable of handling their responsibilities in the event Joe has a brain fart every now and then. Much different than a Trump White House backed up by the president's children and son-in-law eh?

House Republicans launch investigations into Biden's classified documents

Translation: "Everything Trump did is acceptable because Biden did the same thing. I think Trump should be re-elected but Biden should be arrested. Never mind the contradiction, the difference in the two sets of disclosure issues and how they were handled and the differences between how they were handled. Just ignore all that thank you. Simply use anything Biden does to excuse anything Trump did that was illegal or immoral. God Bless Trump who is America - they are one and the same and Biden is wrong"

"Vote for me or the country will be destroyed!" says Biden.

Biden warns GOP could set nation on ‘path to chaos’ as democratic system faces strain

Normally, you'd just call this the usual desperate scaremongering and I'd agree with you, but on a second review, he might have a point (or two) on this account.

I know the MAGAs have the memory of a goldfish, but most of us still remember 2 short years ago when these guys did actually actively try to throw democracy out of the window altogether because they didn't like the result of the election.

What else would you call the mentality of "if my side didn't win, it was rigged and we should overthrow the government!" if not anti-democracy? So sorry their butthurt feelings don't overrule US democracy, but he does have a point here.

The deeper issue is, Republicans can't win on issues. That's why they don't have any positions outside of fear mongering themselves, culture wars, election disinformation and voter disenfranchisement. The last time they tried to argue an issue was healthcare and that was years ago and they couldn't even come up with a credible plan to push. They learned their lesson - they don't need to have a position on issues and they don't need to govern because their base doesn't care about those things.

When was the last time you heard a Republican have a substantive position on any issue that didn't involve mentioning Democrats, the "left", the "woke mob", LGBTQ+ people, criminals, bureaucrats, BLM, the "deep state", Hillary, Pelosi, Hunter, AOC or immigrants?

Biden warns that American values are under assault by Trump-led extremism.

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic,” Mr. Biden said, noting that not all Republicans follow Mr. Trump’s ideology. “But there’s no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans. And that is a threat to this country.”

Citing the “extraordinary experiment of self-government” represented by the American Constitution, Mr. Biden said that “history tells us a blind loyalty to a single leader and a willingness to engage in political violence is fatal to democracy.”

I'm so glad that Biden is starting to say the things that have long needed to be articulated.

“For a long time, we’ve reassured ourselves that American democracy is guaranteed,” Mr. Biden said. “But it is not. We have to defend it. Protect it. Stand up for it. Each and every one of us.”

"Protect it." "Defend it." -- From extreme Republicans who no longer actually believe in democracy.

He needed to say all that. He needed to call out the threat to democracy that MAGA Republicans are.

Could be worse but also could be better. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador gets second place behind India's Modi. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some head scratching to do.

Joe Biden Ranked Sixth in Approval Rating of World Leaders
"According to a survey by Morning Consult Political Intelligence, which tracks the approval rating for governmental leaders in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States on a weekly basis, Biden currently places sixth, with an approval rating of 44 percent."

Regardless of what one may think about the current Oval Office occupant, polls go up and down.

The dear frail gentleman still has plenty of time to become popular with many Americans.

If the Dems keep control of the Congress one year from now, the elderly gent will soon be signing a bill for reparations.

It will be a glittering event at the White House with hundreds of dignitaries attending, such as that fine fellow the Rev. Mr. Al Sharpton.

The Delaware gentleman's ratings will soar to the skies.

So Republicans should avoid being misled by the guy's current low ratings.

Biden's political standing fuels Democratic worry about 2024

I wasn't expecting a piece like this, quite so soon. This reflects my overall thoughts but to see the AP spelling this out so early in the Biden term, surprises me. I think the Dem race for 2024 will be the far more eventful one of that year. Such an odd predicament for a party with an incumbent in his first term. While it's true, Biden's age is old, his "historic" VP pick is young.

The GOP race, for now at least, looks to come down to Trump's decision to run or not. I think it rather likely the candidate will be either Trump or DeSantis. If Trump runs, I also think it quite possible it will be a Trump/DeSantis ticket.

It's very unusual to have the side opposing an incumbent serving their first term, as the side which is the easier one to foresee or predict the election scenario.

Democrats are haggling over whether to drop two of the most popular elements of their social spending bill as negotiations reach the zero hour, according to a half-dozen sources close to the discussions:

Dems weigh ditching Medicare expansion and paid leave in eleventh hour of social spending talks

So, what's left after you gut Medicare expansion and paid family leave? I think I read free community college has already been axed or pared down. Manchin won't approve climate stuff. Sinema is a “no” on negotiating Medicare drug prices. This bill has fizzled. Sure - deaf, dumb & blind aging Baby Boomers beat TaxingTheWealthyAccordingToIncome to provide co-pay free Medicare4All with UniversalBasicIncome & much more, everyday of the week. The majority of the Democrats giveth & the majority of the GOP taketh away.

Ugh, did I get the names right? Well. I'm not much into world politics so how would I know (I lied, duh).

I'm used to this. Geneva regularly gets blocked by the global military armed to the teeth who don't want to allow the public's love reach the Chosen Ones. This place gets chosen for such events quite frequently, and for several good reasons.

One, Switzerland's strict neutrality. It's been there for more than 2 centuries. This has given this country an aura of impartial mediator of international issues, and a trusted diplomatic representative between countries. Many a serious problem have been addressed on this soil for that specific reason. Just to mention that Switzerland represents the US in front of Iran, since those two lovedoves have ceased diplomatic relations for some time.

Biden (via a Zoom chat with Obama) shared some findings today from a new HHS report finding the ACA has broken new enrollment records, covering more Americans "today" (31 million) than ever before.

I say "today" in quotes because the numbers are already outdated.

E.g., the Medicaid enrollment numbers are from five months ago, but Oklahoma for instance last week began implementing the ACA Medicaid expansion its voters passed last year ("More Than 50,000 Oklahomans Signed Up For Medicaid Expansion The 1st Week").

And the ACA marketplace enrollment numbers miss virtually all of Biden's special enrollment period ("ACA Sign-Ups Exceed 1 Million So Far During Special Enrollment"), which extends through August 15 - so that number should keep growing throughout the summer.

But even that understated number is quite impressive and breaks new ground for the ACA.

Biden’s 100-day stock market performance is the hottest going back to the 1950s

- President Joe Biden has witnessed an unprecedented growth on Wall Street in his first 100 days in office, better than any of his predecessors going to at least Dwight Eisenhower.

- Massive stimulus and a booming economy, both of which were underway well before he took office, have helped propel the market.

- If anything, the market’s main worry may be that it’s moving too fast and a policy mistake could slow it down.

Seems like the Trump & GOP negative economic caricature of president Biden has been anything but, at least in terms of his first 100 days. I believe the numbers speak for themselves.

President Biden seems to be desiring to operate economically and structurally at a grand scale, following the likes of FDR, Ike, and JFK. 'Dream Big', it would seem. And that's just fine with anyone who'd like to see America restored to her former leadership role in the world.

President Biden has been entertaining the public with comic utterances and his trademark slips quite frequently. These days he said he loves children better than people. He then called vice president Harris a president - again. (Some might argue this isn't actually a slip. Heh. He heh). Whether you're a right-wing conspiracy theorist or just a bewildered side spectator, you can't help getting the impression that Biden is at a later stage of... let's call it, withdrawing from his presidential position. Everyone has heard that infamous ABC News question where Mr President was asked if he considers Putin a killer, to which he answered, "Mm-hmmm, I do". And then added he'll make Putin pay.

There are no nuances left. What's been said can't be taken back. It's a direct challenge. And it's not due to that alleged senility of his. It's a product of a thought process, a rational move that marks the new realities. These remarks demarcate a turning point - for America, for Russia, for Europe and for Asia. The US is not just directly insulting the Russian president, they're smearing Russia as a whole, placing her outside the law, giving a sign they won't show scruples in their battles with her, and will leave no room for compromise.

While China saying even one word about human rights is fucking hilarious, one can't help noticing that they've been emboldened by the presumably "weak" new US president, and doing what they for some reason dared not do, at least not so boldly, while his orange-headed predecessor was in office:

China accuses US of being 'deeply hypocritical' on human rights record

South China Sea: alarm in Philippines as 200 Chinese vessels gather at disputed reef

Also, Russia has reportedly sent tanks into Ukraine now:

Claiming they were "invited" there by the ethnic Russian majority, who felt threatened by Kyiv's "recent escalation" (apparently, what the Russians call "Nuland's fascist clique" in Kyiv have felt emboldened lately, and conspiracy theories abound about them having been offered something by Biden to undermine the fragile Minsk accords ceasefire.

You know, propaganda. The moment what his detractors call Stumbling Joe got in, America's foes instantly resumed their shenanigans.

While the president regularly takes a handful of questions from the press, he has yet to hold a formal, solo news conference since taking office—a break from his White House predecessors.

I know, this isn't a big deal - yet. At this point. For the time being. Or at least it isn't supposed to be. But the press are starting to get irritated from the lack of access to the president; and of course his detractors, primarily conspiracy theorists, are eager to jump on the "Senile Ole Joe" bandwagon, claiming he's not fit to even hold a conversation with people from outside his most immediate surrounding, let alone capable of making autonomous decisions of national importance.

I really don't want to believe this last bit, because it would have pretty damning implications. It would mean the Dems pushed Joe despite his alleged condition (!?) to become their figurehead just for the sake of removing Donnie from power. To go one step further, these conspiracy theories claim they're planning on "retiring" him within a year or so, effectively making Kamala president. Not sure how that'd change things, if They (the ominous They) are really the ones running things from behind the scenes, but anyway. You know how conspiracy theories go.

All of this, for the fact he's not been particularly responsive to the press. Or, like it last happened, live feeds suddenly and inexplicably cutting just as he's about to do that exactly. I don't know if it raises questions of accountability (a recent meme has emerged depicting Joe as an Executive Order spitting machine, meaning he's mostly ruling through that channel - but then again, which recent president hasn't?) But I do believe being more open to the media would help him disperse a lot of that uncertainty and distrust that's been building up. Not that he'd change anyone's mind on the right-wing, mind you, but it'd definitely help check one of the more important boxes in the questionnaire, namely: Is The President Really Running This Country?
