I'm kind of surprised that we haven't had a post about the Zimmerman trial over the last few weeks, but the jury enters its second day of deliberations today, first full day. We could, theoretically, have a ruling today on the case.

A few links for those who may not have been following closely. I will happily add any other recommended sites for daily analysis of the case if they're posted in the comments.

If Martin had picked Zimmerman at random and started assaulting him, your last sentence would make sense. Maybe Martin felt threatened, probably he felt harassed. Either way, Zimmerman's actions contributed to the fight. Zimmerman also killed Martin in that fight. I'm not saying this is murder or that he's guilty, I am saying that we should be holding people responsible for their contribution to creating a deadly situation for someone whose walking back from a store with Skittles.

You don't see any irony in that statement?

If you mean Martin, he's dead. If not, please elaborate.

Yes, one of the people involved in the deadly situation is dead. But they could very well have been guilty of more than " walking back from a store with Skittles".

If Zimmerman hadn't been following him then he never would have attacked him.

I also agree that it isn't murder, but what happened was a foreseeable consequence of following someone around whilst carrying a gun. If he didn't foresee there being conflict, why carry the gun?

I'm not saying Martin is innocent, but Zimmerman clearly contributed to the result.

I'm not disputing that Martin was the first one to use violence, that seems to be the conclusion the jury reached based on the evidence and testimony. However, when things started out, Martin was the one minding his own business.

Are people on neighborhood watch supposed to mind their own business?

When told to by the cops? Fuck yes.

This being the proof that he was told to stop following Martin.

Saying he could comprehend or understand how he was mis-interpreted is a far cry from positively admitting they told Zimmerman to pursue Trayvon.

Zimmerman never made that case, his lawyers came up with that after the fact. The dispatcher made more of a clear suggestion to stay put than to pursue.
