It's early to assume things at this point of course, but suppose Trump does go away.

My biggest concern is about all those people whom Trump has now convinced that the US democratic process is basically a sham - what are they going to do once he is gone, and there is no one to tell them via Twitter what to do? Start a revolution? Wait for him to come back in 4 years? Start a new movement? Stay quiet?

How do they vent out all that confusion and distrust and frustration that has been building up, and that their champion has helped foster? I don't want to sound crazy, but this all terribly seems like the perfect ground for breeding the next Hitlers and Mussolinis.

There is a lot of navel-gazing and wound-healing that has to be done over there in America. And I'm not seeing a lot of effort in that direction. Not yet, anyway.

Like you said in the previous post, nothing stops them from nominating Trump again in 4 years. And all of this goes on over again.

What amazes me is how limitless his cynicism is. First his response to the pandemic makes voting (and gathering in public places in general) unsafe for people. Then he downplays the risk of gathering in public places. Naturally, many people who are opposed to him want to vote by mail, so they do. And then, he claims those votes shouldn't count. What a beautiful tactic! Most beautiful in the world!

My own concern is that "breeding the next Hitlers and Mussolinis" is the main goal of the current exercise of resisting a free and fair election here and now.

I agree with everything that's been said here. If the emails and texts I've been getting from the Biden Harris campaign are any indication, these 2 will win out in the end. I think we all know what happens when people assume things, but over the course of the past day or so and just a few minutes ago I've heard a lot of good things. Tbh I will just be happy watching all this business with Trump play out. I mean...of course I want Trump to lose because that's what he is: a big loser. But I can't remember an election such as this one, ever happening in my lifetime. I liked Joe Biden back when he was a Senator and then Vice President, and I like him now. Back then I didn't know as much about politics. Joe seems to have very good communication skills, and I would think those are important for all leaders to have. Not just the President or VP.
