Sunday, on the 4th, we were in Sacramento for fireworks and some dancing. Walking from the motel to the club after the fireworks, which were about a quarter mile away, there was a significant police presence to deal with the huge crowds. My wife and our friend and I were waiting at the corner with another half dozen people, and an officer was handling our crosswalk. Some of the other people waiting decided they weren't waiting any longer, and rudely pushed past the officer and through the straggling cars. I thanked her briefly as we passed, and wished her luck. She seemed to appreciate it. My friend called me a brown noser, but I didn't care.
