Just a suggestion

I get it, Putin is using "self determination" as his excuse to invade - and some of our resident Putin apologists do too, so let's play along with this. And now that it seems his advance is kind of getting halted, and the sanctions are already starting to hurt his people, including the oligarchs that his regime rests upon, and there's opposition from within against murdering a brotherly neighbor to a point where he's had to resort to using Wagner mercenaries and Chechen cut-throats... Well... He seems willing to sit at the table and negotiate. Surprise, eh?
Okay, let's negotiate then. You say "self determination" for Donetsk and Luhansk, so what are you willing to give back in return, buddy? And no, "not killing you" doesn't count for an answer. You gotta be a bit better than that.
Would it be too wild to propose that he be given Donetsk and Luhansk, but sign here-and-now that Russia will NOT have any further objections to Ukraine joining NATO and the EU?
I mean think about it. If such a bargain is ever struck, Ukraine sacrifices two small regions, albeit rich in energy resources but with little geostrategic importance, which are already being fiercely contested and have long been compromised through all those separatist incursions - and gets a huge geopolitical boost in the long run, as getting the green light for NATO membership would ensure a much higher level of national security and a strong backing. Just to remind, NATO hasn't been able to get directly involved here because Ukraine is not a member, right?
Now, I'm aware this is pure fantasy and comrade Vlad is not gonna let Ukraine slip out of his imagined "sphere of influence", and in fact the West's vague promise to get them on board is what truly prompted him to feel severely threatened in the first place and lash out the way he did. We've already debated this sentiment over here. I know, I know, getting a bunch of hostile troops stationed right under his smelly arse pointing missiles to his very backyard is not a thought that's supposed to give him a night's rest, for sure. But still? How's that bargain sound from a Ukrainian standpoint? (I know you guys in the West don't really care if Ukraine dies in a fire tomorrow, so I'm not asking of your standpoint here, no need to pretend you do give a shit because both you and I know that you truly don't, we all know it's just a game).
