Can someone explain to me the rationale to let in ex-dictatorships like Romania which is one of Europe's biggest shitholes economically and a former dictatorship like Greece, Portugal, or Spain and exclude Turkey? Turkey is economically more viable than Romania, and if its dictatorial tendencies are taken into account that means that Greece, the Iberian states, and the former Warsaw Pact states should be excluded, too.

So why Greece in the EU but not the Turks?
